About
Bringing art into
everyone's life

ArtKriti is an initiative of artist Gaurav Chawla, striving to engage and push new boundaries within the multidisciplinary parameters and practices of art and design.
ARTKRITI is an art project that seeks to educate, inspire and lift the creative spirit within. Aimed at embracing and highlighting the artistic processes, approaches and ideas of some of today's most established and emerging artists and creative individuals, its core purpose is to bring art into the life of everyone — bringing artists near to art lovers, and providing a unique artistic platform on which to express intimate and personal ideas. With craftsmanship, artistry and quality in mind.
In practice that has meant three things. Exhibitions, shown in galleries and in places people already go, like a neighbourhood cafe. Participatory installations, where the work is assembled from what a hundred strangers send in. And workshops, mostly for children, on folk forms like Madhubani and Warli, and on the basics of light and shadow.
Founder
Gaurav Chawla
Gaurav Chawla is a visual artist and the founder of ArtKriti. Self-taught, he picked up the brush with more zeal after an attack of optical neuritis in 2009 left him with low vision and loss of colour in his right eye. He has exhibited in over 50 shows across India and represented the country in Canada, New York, Italy, Austin, Abu Dhabi and Vietnam.
He believes art can play a major role in an individual's life, and works towards that through ArtKriti's initiatives — the Peace Card among them, built on the philosophy of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam, One World.
