A graduate of the College of Art, New Delhi (1993), I trained under prominent artists including Niren Sen, Paramjit Singh, Subrato Kundu, Bilash Bose and S. N. Lahiri. Learning a great deal under their guidance, I gradually developed my own style. I am deeply influenced by water, and one can see the fluidity of colour and the movement of water in my work.
“For me art is devotion. Art touches one's life. It opens the doors to the depth of one's heart. Art is very important in life for relieving oneself, and the vibrancy of colours, tones, textures and various other mediums help a person grow further in life, deepening a thought process and relieving oneself from the daily challenges one faces.”
As my love for nature has no bounds, and as it has new facets every day, I take my inspiration from nature. So you will find the freshness of nature, the richness of colours, serenity, peace and passion in my work. My current series, Toward Light, focuses on the lotus flower underwater. It teaches one never to give up hope, no matter what, and to keep moving forward in life — shining brightly as the lotus glows in spite of growing in muddy water.
